Campaign Overview

Called by Name

GOAL

The goal of our Called by Name campaign is to identify faithful teens and young men who love Christ and the Church and may be open to the priesthood. The Vocation Director, Fr. Jack Reichardt, will follow up by sending them a letter of congratulations, inviting them to discern. In the months ahead, our Vocation Team will invite them to events, offer personal support, and encourage them as they discern their vocations.

THREE MAIN THINGS

1. PRIESTS are asked tell their vocation stories at Mass.

2. PARISHES are asked to put Called by Name cards in pews.

3. PARISHIONERS are invited to submit the names of faithful young men they would like to honor and to attend the special summer Called by Name Evening events.

TIMELINE

Week of April 13 … Parishes receive Called by Name materials
Includes pew cards, sample homily, prayers of the faithful, bulletin blurbs, etc.

April 18-19 … Announcement Weekend
Include Bishop Malloy’s letter in bulletins and read pulpit announcement

April 25-26 … Called by Name Sunday
Priests tell their vocation story, parishes put cards in pews, all parishioners encouraged to submit names

May-August … Called by Name Evenings and Follow Up by Vocation Team
Special summer discernment events and personal follow up by Vocation Team Members

MAILING PEW CARDS

Please return the filled out pew cards received in the collection baskets by mail. It would be greatly appreciated if parish staff could look over the pew cards and fill in any missing information that the parish has on file before mailing the cards. This will help ensure that we can provide the nominees with vocation resources. A return envelope was included in the package with the pew cards, but if it has been misplaced, please mail cards to:
