Have you ever felt a pulling on your heart to at least be open to a potential call from Jesus — to follow him with everything? Or perhaps you already sense him inviting you to respond, finding yourself in those first moments of “actively discerning” a priestly vocation, seeking to take that next step. Often times, attending a “Come and See” or retreat visit to a real seminary can help you explore more and discern. “Can I picture myself here? … Is this where you could be calling me, Lord?”
Each fall and spring, the Diocese of Rockford takes young men from all over our diocese to attend such a visit. Though at an actual seminary, these visits are by no means a formal “this means I’m going to have to apply.” Rather, they are meant to be a zero-pressure, open, and engaging experience, that, should the Lord ever truly call, you now have a real experience to relate to, helping you discern one way or the other. This event is free.
